]]> Have you ever thought about spending Halloween at the Zoo? Doesn’t it sound like the perfect way to spend the spooky holiday? Well the LA Zoo has answered your prayers with its annual Halloween festivities. The event includes scary stories, awesome puppet shows, pumpkin carving lessons and up-close interactions with some of the zoo's scariest crawlers (oh no).

The festival are going on every day until Halloween and are free with the price of admission. Everyday Zoo goers can participate in photo ops, a corn stalk maze, and wonder the creepy crawler-filled caves of the Winnick Family Children's Zoo. The weekends feature additional spooky shows and workshops.

Most day even the animals try to get in on the Halloween action and they might pop up during a pumpkin carving or during other activities. The Zoo will also provide trick or treating options on the 29th and 30th.

]]> If you have kids, then you know they do not like to eat. Most young children are picky about some food or other and they want to sustain themselves on cookies and donuts. However, Halloween is a great way to get your kids to eat by creating a spooky decorations out of your food. Here are three simple ideas to try during the next few weeks.

Banana ghost: cut bananas in half and freeze them with a stick in the bottom. Once frozen, use two sprinkles for eyes and let your kids enjoy this spooky halloween snack. If you are a DIYer try dipping the banana pieces in white chocolate for a really tasty treat.

Breadstick snakes: buy some pizza dough and cut them into long strips. Twist the dough to create a snake looking piece and bake them. Use sprinkles for eyes and serve up these scary treats along side spaghetti for dinner.

Donut spiders: purchase a bag of mini donuts, M&Ms and pretzels. Use the M&Ms as eyes and the pretzels as spider legs and treat your kids to a scary after school snack.
